V 3.5.2 - Release Date 07-30-2010
Previous Version: v3.0.1 Release Date 07-30-2009
Most of the changes in the new firmware are related to multi-camera use and are non-critical changes.
Since December 2009, there is no difference in hardware of these two models. But we released new firmware on 8/1/10 and now model MS340P is shipped with this new firmware, whereas it will take a couple of months before model MS240D will start shipping with the new firmware by all resellers (see firmware upgrade section to request new firmware to upgrade your existing camera and monitor)
No, multiple monitors cannot be used.
Single monitor can work with up to 8 cameras but each camera can work with just one monitor at a time (each camera has to be paired with the monitor first in order for the monitor to receive audio and video signal from the camera and the camera can hold pairing information about one monitor at a time). This is due to secured nature of the transmission.
Baby monitors purchased after June 2009 are compatible with the new firmware version
The camera and monitor are upgradeable to the newest firmware if:
· The baby monitor (camera and monitor) has Glossy finish OR
· Camera and monitor have a very small white round stickers with letters “8M” on the back OR
· There is System Information option showing the current firmware version under Settings in the Main Menu on the monitor
· Computer with Windows XP (NOTE: Software to upgrade firmware DOES NOT work on computers with Windows Vista or 7, or Mac OS X)
· USB cable (included with the baby monitor – it has standard mini 5-pin USB connector)
· New firmware files and instructions
· To request new firmware files and instructions, email help@hittusa.com the following information with “New firmware request” in the Subject field:
o Copy of Order Confirmation, Invoice or Packing Slip – we need this information to confirm that the current firmware is compatible with the baby monitor
o Also confirm that you have access to a computer with Windows XP
The additional camera must be first registered/paired with the monitor. See How do I register a camera? for instructions.
Camera was mistakenly unregistered or the camera battery completely lost its charge causing the pairing information to be deleted from the memory. The camera and monitor must be paired/registered to receive audio and video signal from the camera. See How do I register a camera? for instructions.
Please follow instructions on page 17 of the user manual (or download complete pairing instructions from or website). Two key steps in the pairing/registering process are:
1. When prompted "Register Camera 1" select "Yes" or "No", press down arrow key to select Yes and then press OK (The default is No)
2. In the next step When you see "Register Camera 1..." on the monitor screen PRESS and QUICKLY RELEASE ON/OFF button on the CAMERA (not on the monitor) to complete registration NOTE: This step must be completed while the monitor screen displays “Register camera 1…” message.
In case the monitor screen displays “Operation failed” error message then reset the CAMERA by pressing and releasing the CODE/RESET button on the camera and then repeat STEPS 1 and 2 above.
100 -175 feet of effective range is a good estimate.
Indoor signal range depends on a number of factors like the number of walls and ceilings the signal has to go through as well as the construction material (sheetrock vs. brick/concrete) and also very much on the presence of other wireless devices (wireless network, cordless phones).
This problem is normally caused by presence of other wireless devices, especially a wireless network router/adapter or another wireless Audio/Video device using 2.4GHz wireless frequency. We recommend that you change the wireless channel setting on the router from AUTO to either lower channels 2 or 3 (if that does not help then upper channels 10 or 11) to reduce interference from wireless network. Also if possible do not keep other wireless devices within 10-15 feet from camera and monitor.
In some rare cases the error message and black screen problem can be caused by corrupted firmware on the camera and/or the monitor. The corrupted firmware problem can be resolved by re-installing the same or new firmware - see question What do I need to upgrade the firmware on my camera and monitor? for more information.
“Camera 1 unavailable" message normally appears if you are using single camera (or only one camera is registered) but you have set Auto Scan to a setting other than "Never".
Please make sure that if you have one camera or only one camera is registered then Auto Scan is set to "Never" under Multi-Camera -> Camera Selection.
Also make sure that only the camera number that has thumbs up sign next to it (or one of the cameras with thumbs up sign next to it) under Multi-Camera->Camera Selection->Manual Selection is selected (highlighted in RED)
If the battery charging level indicator shows battery is fully charged as soon as you plug the AC adapter to the monitor, then it's possible that the battery is not installed properly.
When battery is not installed properly or is not in the battery compartment, the monitor will display battery fully charged sign as soon as it's plugged in to AC power.
Please make sure that when you insert the battery in the battery compartment you first insert the front part aligning the metal contacts on the battery with the metal contacts inside the battery compartment, and then while pushing the battery up (towards the battery compartment), push the back end into the battery compartment.
If the battery is still not recognized by the monitor, then there is a good chance that the pin(s) inside the battery compartment are bent, which can happen if the battery is forced into the battery compartment. To fix this problem, make sure the AC adapter is not connected to the monitor, remove rechargeable battery , use tip of a pen - stick it underneath one of the metal pins and push it up (apply slight force). Repeat the same with the other pin. Then reinsert the battery following instructions above and try using the monitor.
To maximize battery usage, please follow these steps:
1. Reset the monitor while getting charged (press small black button below ON/OFF button using tip of a pen)
2. Charge the battery for at least 8 hours
3. Unplug AC adapter and use monitor on battery power until it shuts down by itself.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for 2 more times.
With each charge you will find the battery lasts longer than the previous time. If you do not use monitor on battery power on a regular basis, then we recommend that at least one a week use the monitor on battery power until it shuts down on its own, to optimize battery usage and life.
This problem is normally caused by a power surge which is more common during months when lightning is caused due to bad weather. Mostly it’s the AC adapter that goes bad, but in some rare cases the power surge can damage electronic circuit board on the device.
Electronic circuit board can also be damaged if the device is dropped on a hard surface.
See warranty details in the user manual or (our website) if this kind of damage is covered under warranty terms.
